Claude Bolling, a leading pianist and composer of the 20th century, passed away on December 29, 2020, in Garches. Born in 1930 in Cannes, he was a precocious jazz prodigy who quickly made a name for himself with his big band and a remarkable international career. He collaborated with many figures in French chanson and composed more than 100 film scores. An innovator, he popularized “crossover music,” blending jazz and classical, to worldwide acclaim. A recipient of the Legion of Honor, his work continues to inspire many musicians.
